What is the Pomodoro Technique?
The Pomodoro Technique was developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. It uses a timer to break work into 25-minute focused sessions (called "pomodoros") separated by short breaks.
How It Works
- Choose a task to work on
- Set a timer for 25 minutes
- Work on the task until the timer rings
- Take a 5-minute break
- After 4 pomodoros, take a longer 15-30 minute break
Why It's Effective
- Fights procrastination: 25 minutes feels manageable
- Maintains focus: Eliminates multitasking
- Prevents burnout: Regular breaks maintain energy
- Creates urgency: Timer creates productive pressure
- Measures progress: Track completed pomodoros
